Tesla, NIO, GWM resume production
Beijing (Gasgoo)- Great Wall Motor’s Chongqing manufacturing plant, which is responsible for producing the auto group’s TANK 300, will resume production on April 22nd.

Earlier, on April 14th, the TANK brand announced that the sudden resurgence of the pandemic had affected the output of its eight auto parts suppliers in Shanghai, Jiangsu, and Jilin. Hence, the production of the TANK 300 model had been temporarily suspended since the announcement date.
Thanks to Shanghai municipal government’s coordination, Tesla’s 8,000 staff members have returned to work on April 17th-18th. On April 19th, Tesla’s Shanghai Gigafactory has officially resumed operation in its battery and electric motor workshops at first and its automobile shops hours later.
In the meantime, various Tesla parts suppliers in Shanghai and Zhejiang province have also restarted operations. With the help from local authorities, corresponding logistics routes were also activated to ensure Tesla’s auto production.
In addition, China’s EV startup NIO, whose auto production was temporarily halted on April 9th, also saw its Hefei manufacturing base gradually recovers in operations. According to NIO, its supply chain has started to recover on April 14th. The provincial government of Anhui province, and municipal government of Hefei have initiated bailout measures for NIO.
