In May 2023, the deliveries of the vehicles manufactured at Tesla’s Gigafactory Shanghai reached 77,695 units, representing a year-on-year spike of 142%, according to the data from the China Passenger Car Association (CPCA).

Magna names new president for China region

May 31, 2023 marked a significant leadership transition within Magna's China division as Ms. Wu Zhen, former Head of Magna China at Magna International, assumed the role of President for Magna China. CATL, Yutong Commercial Vehicle team up on battery swapping for long-haul logistics

In a move to further expand in the long-haul logistics market, Yutong Commercial Vehicle Co., Ltd. this week entered into a long-term strategic partnership with CATL for duration of five years (2023-2028). The collaboration aims to focus on and cultivate the market for electric truck battery swapping on long-haul routes.  

At the same time, both companies will share resources in the field of commercial vehicle battery swapping. They will collaborate on the development and application of new materials, systems, and technologies, working together to establish industry standards for commercial vehicle batteries.

General Motors introduces Proxima design project at Shanghai-based design studio

On June 6, General Motors ("GM") unveiled the progress achieved by the GM China Advanced Design Center since the studio was expanded and renovated, highlighting the studio's creative growth and contribution to GM's global advanced design footprint.

Among the projects undertaken by the studio is Proxima, named after the Portuguese word for "next," reflecting the studio's commitment to designing for the next-generation users in China. Proxima, the studio's first major accomplishment in its transition towards EV design, reimagines flagship sedan proportions, enhances interior spaciousness, and delivers a residential in-cabin experience. It represents sophisticated simplicity and purity tailored to China's tech-focused market environment.
