Volkswagen plans to increase its market share in China after it has achieved a sales growth of 7.6% in the first two month globally due to strong sales in China. “Our two JVs in China target maintaining market leaders in China. As our increasing speed is slightly lower than that of the China market, we plan to take 20 percent market share in China in the next two or three years compared to our 17% market share last year,” said Stefan Jacoby, VW’s group head of sales and marketing. As to the German market, he added that the sales in March may be lower than the prior year after the implementation of consumption tax last year, but the market will stabilize later on.
