Baidu Apollo, Samsung to launch co-developed V2X App soon

Beijing (Gasgoo)- The autonomous driving arm of Baidu, Apollo, officially inked a strategic cooperation agreement with Samsung for intelligent V2X service.

The two companies will construct profound customization on Baidu’s smartphone-to-vehicle intelligent connected product, CarLife+. Baidu Apollo and Samsung aim to create innovations in the V2X field, elevating user experience through a smarter HMI.

The partners disclosed that their co-developed Baidu CarLife+ Samsung edition application will be available soon. 

As vehicles and phones grow smarter, user dependency on phone apps has branched out to driving scenarios, such as checking the map or navigations. So, through a system-level integration on Baidu’s CarLife+ and Samsung’s OneUI, the Samsung edition CarLife can seamlessly connect the two terminals (smartphone and vehicle), allowing users to continue their operations cross terminals. For example, one can easily look up road situations or listen to podcasts in the car.

Moreover, the solution also offers multiple connection methods, including wireless and Bluetooth. The CarLife+ Samsung edition can be optimized under various scenarios, providing smooth user experience. 

Notably, the partnership between the two tech giants signifies the beginning of their deepened technical cooperation in the intelligent V2X field. 

According to Baidu, as of now, Samsung’s smart terminals can be connected to every onboard system powered by Baidu’s intelligent ecosystem. Baidu Apollo’s intelligent V2X development will benefit from the Korean smartphone giant’s technology reserve and wide user base.

Currently, Baidu CarLife+ has established cooperation with over 70 automakers worldwide, powering more than 1,000 models. The product has been deployed to over 20 million vehicles.
