Cambricon to launch L2+ SoC for RMB80,000-RMB100,000 vehicle market
Beijing (Gasgoo)- China’s autonomous driving chip developer, Cambricon, plans to launch an L2+ drive/park integrated chip solution this year, targeting the RMB80,000-RMB100,000 vehicle market, its president Wang Ping disclosed at the China EV100 Forum.

The existing domain controller solutions in the L2+ autonomous market usually adopt two to three SoCs for its driving and parking functions. The system is complex with a high-power dissipation, causing the solution unable to cool down autonomously, therefore driving the cost up.
Cambricon’s new L2+ solution has a maximum computing power of 16TOPS, realizing all drive/park functions with a single piece of SoC. The solution supports natural heat dissipation and is compatible with entry-level vehicle models priced at RMB80,000-RMB100,000.
Moreover, the company is introducing its SD5226 chip solution dedicated to the L4 autonomous market in 2023. The solution will support onboard training and self-learning architecture.
According to Cambricon, the 7nm L4 chip solution has an enhanced computing power of over 400TOPS, and a CPU computing power of 300KDMIPS. The chip features an independent safety island, allowing L4 autonomous functions with a single SoC.
Wang Ping believed that the two products would sufficiently solve the common sticking point that stopped more vehicle models from featuring autonomous driving capabilities, namely, the high cost.
