Dongfeng Sharing receives autonomous driving road test licenses from Gansu province

Beijing (Gasgoo)- China’s Gansu province recently launched its autonomous driving demonstration application, issuing the inaugural autonomous driving demonstration license along with four road test licenses. Dongfeng Sharing, the autonomous driving technology arm of Dongfeng Motor, secured two licenses in this milestone development.

The province also unveiled the first roads for autonomous passenger and freight transport demonstrations.

In recent years, Gansu has taken the lead in the northwest region of China by proposing the intelligent connected vehicle demonstration application, focusing on three major scenarios, including autonomous passenger transport, autonomous freight transport, and autonomous driving in designated areas. This initiative marks a new phase in the application of intelligent connected vehicle industries within urban and regional settings.

Dongfeng Sharing's autonomous driving vehicles will navigate the main and secondary roads in Lanzhou New Area in Gansu’s provincial capital, Lanzhou, conducting commercial testing and operations for intelligent connected vehicles. This effort aims to propel the advancement of Gansu's driverless vehicle industry.

China's intelligent connected vehicle development is transitioning from testing and validation to multi-scenario demonstration applications. Dongfeng Sharing actively explores commercial operations for autonomous driving technologies across multiple scenarios. Up to now, the company is operating functional unmanned vehicles in 15 provinces and more than 35 cities, including Wuhan, Xiong'an, Chengdu, Chongqing, and Suzhou. The company is spearheading a new model of public transportation mobility services centering on "vehicle, road, cloud, station, and scenario."
