Tesla vehicles integrate Baidu Maps V20 lane-level navigation in China

Beijing (Gasgoo)- Baidu Maps recently launched its V20 lane-level navigation globally, now available in all Tesla models equipped with AMD car chips (including Model S/3/X/Y) in China. This new feature, integrated in the latest onboard software versions 2024.14.8 and 2024.14.9, was released via OTA updates starting June 7.

This collaboration with Tesla China positions Baidu Maps as a major provider of city-wide lane-level navigation services capable of large-scale production and implementation. The V20 version seamlessly integrates mobile maps with in-car navigation systems, offering users a more convenient and efficient navigation experience.

The V20 features a new 3D advanced solution that utilizes lane-level map data covering the entire country, providing Tesla owners with a unified navigation experience. This integration makes the in-car navigation system as effective as, if not better than, mobile navigation.

The upgraded V20 in-car navigation provides a detailed 1:1 representation of highways, expressways, and urban roads, including lane markings and bus lanes. It intelligently plans routes to minimize lane changes, reducing the difficulty and frequency of lane changes, thereby enhancing safety and driving experience.

For complex intersections and interchanges, Tesla's lane-level navigation uses Baidu's lane-level map data to optimize visual rendering, making the on-screen navigation nearly identical to the real-world environment. This detailed guidance ensures precise lane positioning and efficient route planning, especially at junctions and multi-lane sections.

Additionally, Baidu Maps V20 supports cross-system smartphone integration, allowing nearly all brands of smartphones to connect with supported vehicles.
