Analysis: Sales of joint ventures in the first half of 2011
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai July 17) - According to statistics issued by the China Passenger Car Association and sorted out by Gasgoo.com, the 15 top foreign joint ventures sold a total of 3.96 million vehicles in the first half of 2011. The amount is 11.7 percent higher than sold in the first half of last year. VW headed the list, followed by GM, Nissan, Hyundai, Toyota, Honda, PSA, Kia, Ford, Suzuki, Mazda, BMW, Daimler, Mitsubishi and Lotus.
VW alone managed to sell over 1 million(1,053,000) vehicles through its joint ventures with SAIC and FAW Group. Meanwhile, Toyota was surpassed by Nissan and Hyundai, dropped to fifth, with Daimler selling more than Mitsubishi and Lotus, rose to thirteenth.
Daimler and BMW experience lightning growth...
Among the 15 enterprises listed, the following seven had faster than average growth rates: VW, GM, Nissan, Kia, Mazda, BMW and Daimler. Daimler and BMW had the fastest growth rates from last year, increasing at 116.6 percent and 62.5 percent to 35,900 and 53,000 vehicles , respectively. Meanwhile, the two most successful enterprises this year, VW and GM, grew 22.2 percent and 23.1 percent, respectively. Korea's Kia, alongside Nissan and Mazda, also had respectable growth rates of 18.2 percent, 14.5 percent and 13.3 percent, respectively.
Meanwhile there were four enterprises whose sales fell down during the first half of 2011: Toyota, Honda, Mitsubishi and Lotus. Among them sales with Lotus' joint venture with Youngman fell the most at 32.2 percent to 14,300 vehicles. Meanwhile Toyota, Honda and Mitsubishi saw negative growth rates of 14.3 percent, 15.1 percent and 18.8 percent, respectively.
While still seeing their sales increase, Suzuki, Hyundai, PSA and Ford all grew under the industry average, with rates of 9.9 percent, 10.6 percent, 10.7 percent and 10.2 percent, respectively.

3. Honda’s sales figures include the sales of Dongfeng Honda and Guangqi Honda. Due to Honda China's Jazz being all sold overseas, they are not included within these statistics.
