Analysis: Chinese automobile exports from 2009 to 2011

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai) - According to statistics compiled from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers and the General Administration of Customs, automobile exports grew slightly in the first half of this year, surpassing 9.15 million units. Exports accounted for slightly over 4 percent of that amount, an evident increase from 2010. However, the average cost of exported vehicles has dropped slightly from $12,324 in 2010 to $12,231 this year.

The majority of automobiles exported this year once again were passenger vehicles, with the total amount exported surpassing 7 million units. The amount constitutes 2.9 percent of all vehicles manufactured, an increase from the 2.0 percent of last year. The average $6,842 price of an exported vehicle in 2011 is slightly higher than the $6,590 was in 2010, but it is still far behind the $7,203 of 2009.

Exports of commercial vehicles this year exceeded 2.1 million units, signifying a large increase of 29.27 percent from 2010. The average value of commercial vehicle exports also rose slightly from last year, increasing from $18,020 to $18,556, but is still below the $18,839 average price.

When looking at the figures, the large increase in export quantity from 2009 to 2010 is very apparent. However, average export value fell back in 2010, and is only now beginning to rise to 2009 levels. Another change deserving attention is that passenger vehicle exports rose past commercial vehicle exports in 2010.
