Summary: Top ten passenger vehicle manufacturers from January to November 2011
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai) - The China Passenger Car Association has recently released sales statistics for the top ten manufacturers of passenger vehicles for both November 2011 and the first eleven months.
Shanghai GM leads the comprehensive November sales charts (below), which included both domestic and foreign sales. The joint venture followed by Shanghai VW, FAW Volkswagen, Dongfeng Nissan, Beijing Hyundai, FAW Toyota, Chery, Dongfeng Yueda Kia, Geely and Great Wall. BYD, which made the October list, found itself just outside of the rankings, with total monthly sales of 37,900 units. Great Wall, meanwhile, made its first appearance in the rankings, selling a total of 40,613 vehicles in November, surpassing BYD, Guangqi Honda and Changan Ford Mazda.
Meanwhile, Shanghai GM led the rankings for manufacturers with highest domestic only sales in November (below), followed by Shanghai VW, FAW-VW, Dongfeng Nissan, Beijing Hyundai, FAW Toyota, Dongfeng Yueda Kia, Changan Ford Mazda, Chery and Geely. Great Wall, with its reliance on exports, did not make the cut, while Chery and Geely, who are also among China's largest automobile exports, both fell in the rankings.
As for sales figures for the first eleven months of 2011, CPCA statistics (below) show Shanghai GM selling the most, followed by Shanghai VW, FAW-VW, Dongfeng Nissan, Beijing Hyundai, Chery, FAW Toyota, BYD, Geely and Dongfeng Yueda Kia. BYD saw its sales fall 15.4 percent from last year, only one of two manufacturers in the top ten to see its sales decrease, the other being Chery.
The other eight top ten manufacturers witnessed healthy sales growth, with foreign joint ventures Shanghai GM, Shanghai VW, Dongfeng Nissan and Dongfeng Yueda Kia leading the pack with sales increases of over 20 percent.
Falling just out of the top ten were Changan Ford Mazda, Dongfeng PSA, Great Wall, Guangqi Honda, Guangqi Toyota and Dongfeng Honda. Great Wall saw its sales increase a full 31.3 percent from 2010, while Guangqi Honda and Dongfeng Honda suffered slight decreases.
