Hyundai Motor: technology of hydrogen fuel cell battery matures

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Hyundai will introduce 13 hybrid vehicle models, 9 plug-in hybrid vehicle models, 14 EV models and 2 hydrogen fuel cell vehicle models by 2025, Woong-Chul Yang, vice chairman of Hyundai Motor Group said at the China EV100 Forum 2018.

Hyundai Motor has long been committed to developing and researching technologies for eco-friendly vehicles. Its EVs and hydrogen-powered vehicles have boasted world-leading technological standards, especially the new-gen hydrogen fuel cell model, the NEXO, Woong-Chul Yang added. 

Lee Ki-sang, senior vice president of Hyundai Motor Group's Eco Technology Center exposed that the NEXO can reach the world's longest range of over 590km (before certification) on a single charge of five minutes. It can be started under extreme environment with a low temperature at -30 degrees Celsius.

In addition, the NEXO firstly adopts a hydrogen storage system with three equally-sized tanks. With an optimized layout, the model offers the same spacious loading capacity as the combustion vehicles in its same class.

According to Lee Ki-sang, the NEXO boasts a world-leading efficiency level of 60%, via reducing hydrogen consumption and optimizing key components. Moreover, in order to enhance the durability of hydrogen fuel cell battery, the NEXO adopts a high-performance air filtration system, which can filter out the PM 2.5 particles.

At the meantime, the model also comes with a wide variety of cutting-edge technologies, such as highway driving assistance, lane keeping assist system and remote smart parking assistant, delivering a futuristic driving experience on roads.

During the forum, Hyundai Motor also presented the NEXO. Compared to traditional internal combustion vehicles, the NEXO delivered an impressive accelerating capacity and stable driving experience. Besides, it features remarkable appearance and interior design, according to the person related to the China EV100 Forum 2018.
