Upgrade of NIO ES8 to have doubled range and stronger performance

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The information about the to-be-upgraded NIO ES8 has already been revealed recently although the first model NIO ES8 was launched just three months ago and the delivery hasn't finished yet.

According to insiders from NIO, the all-new ES8 will make official debut in 2021. The new model is slated to have great improvement in power performance and is expected to double the range to 600km.

Powered by AC asynchronous motors with front and rear drive, the current NIO ES8 can deliver a maximum power output of 240kW and a peak torque of 420Nm. It can sprint from 0-100km/h in 4.4 seconds. Adopting three-ternary lithium battery with a power capacity of 70kWh, the new model will have a NEDC range of 355km, and can reach a range of 500km at a constant speed of 60km/h. 

Within this year, NIO will release its second model, the ES6. According to Zheng Xiancong, co-founder, executive vice president of NIO and CEO of XPT, disclosed that the ES6 will have a range of over 500km under NEDC standard. Moreover, its battery system adopts the VDA rectangular battery cell with the highest energy density, demonstrating safer and more reliable characters with a recycling life of over 2000 times. By 2020 when the second-gen ES8 is to be launched, the new ES8 will have an upgrade in its range, which is expected to reach 600km.
