GAC NE’s Aion LX all-electric SUV to boast range of up to 650km

Shanghai (Gasgoo)- The powertrain data about the Aion LX, the first all-electric SUV model of GAC NE’s Aion Series, has been exposed by China’s Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT). The new pure electric SUV, which was unveiled at the Auto Shanghai 2019, is set to be mass produced at the end of September.

According to the MIIT, the permanent magnet synchronous motor made by Nidec Automotive Motor (Zhejiang) Corporation will power the Aion LX's two versions with single motor—churning out up to 150kW/350N·m and 135kW/350N·m respectively.

Besides, both variants will be fitted with the NCM811 fuel cell offered by CATL. The high-power version, driven by a battery system with energy density of 180Wh/g, features a NEDC-rated range of 650km, consuming 15.8kWh per 100km.

As to the other version, a battery system with energy density of 171Wh/kg enables a NEDC range of up to 520km and costs 15.5kWh of electricity per 100km.

Both versions are able to run at a top speed of 170km/h.

Positioned a medium-size SUV, the Aion LX measures 4,786mm long, 1,935mm wide and 1,685mm tall with a wheelbase that spans 2,920mm, comparatively close to the NIO ES6 (4,850mm*1,965mm*1,758mm, 2,900-mm wheelbase).

Externally, the Aion LX features GAC NE's iconic design language but is still very distinctive. Above the nameplate, the middle plate coupled with headlights resembles an arrow flying through a patch of cloud. In the lower part of the front face, the honeycomb-shaped air admission opening edged by black trims looks more aggressive than that of the Aion S.

It is said that the Aion LX can complete 0-100km/h sprint within 3.9 second. In addition, the new BEV model will be outfitted with GAC NE's Adigo automated driving system and the continuous damping control to improve the driving intelligence and the comfortability.
