Shanghai (Gasgoo)- Chinese new energy commercial vehicle startup Windrose Technology ("Windrose") recently signed a significant order with Chilean logistics giant Trailor Logistics for several hundred electric heavy-duty trucks, according to a post on the company's WeChat account.

The first batch has already received down payments and is scheduled for delivery starting later this year.

Trailor Logistics, headquartered in Santiago, Chile's capital, counts global brands such as Walmart and Heineken among its clients.

This partnership marks Windrose's official entry into its fifth continent, following previous expansions into Europe, North America, and Oceania. As a leading Chinese new energy vehicle (NEV) exporter, Windrose continues to broaden its global footprint, with South America now added to its growing international portfolio.

Historically, South America has received relatively limited attention from Chinese companies due to its geographic distance, lower global visibility, and limited English-language infrastructure. However, growing bilateral trade, infrastructure projects such as Peru's Chancay Port, and currency swap agreements between China and South American nations have rapidly elevated the region's strategic importance for Chinese firms going global.

Windrose founder, chairman, and CEO Mr. Han Wen emphasized that the company plans to expand its presence across Spanish-speaking regions in Europe and the Americas, aiming to accelerate the global adoption of zero-emission freight solutions.

Chile, as one of South America's most developed economies, is well-positioned to advance the energy transition. Situated along the Pacific coast and backed by the Andes Mountains, the country boasts abundant wind and solar resources. It produces a quarter of the world's copper and holds 78% of the global lithium reserves shared across South America.

In line with its green ambitions, the Chilean government has laid out a mid-to-long-term roadmap for transportation decarbonization, aiming for net-zero emissions from all road freight vehicles and intercity buses by 2045.

Chile’s unique geography—stretching 4,305 kilometers from north to south while averaging only 200 kilometers in width—creates distinct transport challenges. Route 5, part of the Pan-American Highway, handles around half of the nation's freight traffic and runs the entire length of the country. With a 670-kilometer range at full load and megawatt-level fast-charging capabilities, Windrose's electric heavy-duty trucks offer a compelling solution for long-haul logistics across the vast terrain, combining zero emissions, high efficiency, and reliable performance tailored for the South American market.
