XPENG hits 1 million vehicles production milestone

On November 21, XPENG celebrated the production of its one-millionth vehicle—a major milestone reflecting the company’s rapid expansion. Chairman and CEO He Xiaopeng announced at the Auto Guangzhou 2025 that while it took the company 82 months to reach the first 500,000 units, the leap from 500,000 to 1 million was achieved in just 14 months—demonstrating a remarkable acceleration in both production capacity and market presence.

This achievement was supported by robust sales performance. XPENG delivered 42,013 vehicles in October 2025, up 76% year-on-year and marking a new monthly record. It also exceeded the 40,000-unit threshold for the second consecutive month. From January to October, cumulative deliveries reached 355,209 units, surging 190% year-on-year. XPENG’s expanding portfolio—including the X9 super range-extended electric model, the new P7, and the M03—covers multiple segments and continues to drive strong consumer demand.

On November 21, GAC Group and Magna jointly announced a new partnership to produce vehicles in Europe—a strategic step aimed at strengthening GAC's localized manufacturing footprint and accelerating its electrification strategy in the region.

According to the companies, GAC's AION V electric SUV has already entered mass production at Magna’s facility in Graz, Austria, which can make gasoline-powered, hybrid and electric vehicles on shared lines.

GAC International General Manager Wei Haigang emphasized that Europe is a critical market in GAC’s global roadmap, and local assembly through Magna enables the company to provide region-specific EV solutions.

Gotion Hi-Tech begins mass production and delivery of Unified Cell batteries for Volkswagen platforms

On November 20, Gotion Hi-Tech held a ceremony in Hefei marking the mass production and delivery of its Unified Cell (UC) batteries—signaling the transition of its five-year strategic collaboration with Volkswagen Group and PowerCo into scalable commercial deployment.

Batch deliveries of the UC batteries began in the second half of this year, and Gotion plans to supply Volkswagen with high-performance LFP and other cell types from 2026 to 2032.

The UC is a standardized battery solution designed with cross-platform and cross-chemistry compatibility, allowing a unified cell size to accommodate diverse vehicle architectures and chemistries. The technology delivers advantages in system integration, fast-charging capability, safety performance, and cold-weather resilience. These attributes have earned the UC multiple program nominations across Volkswagen's global platforms, reinforcing Gotion's role in Volkswagen's long-term battery strategy.
