Gasgoo Munich- Valeo has launched its extended reality (XR) gaming experience in the Renault Filante, the latest flagship from Renault Korea. It marks the world’s first fully integrated XR gaming feature in a mass-produced vehicle. Running on the car’s existing sensors, cameras, and computing hardware, the system merges virtual gameplay with real-world road conditions using real-time data and environmental perception. The result is an immersive experience synchronized with the vehicle's movement.

First unveiled as the "Valeo Racer" concept at SXSW 2024, the solution moved from prototype to production in under a year. By using the actual road environment as the gaming backdrop, passengers receive virtual feedback that matches the car's dynamics in real time. Unlike traditional entertainment that ignores motion, this system offers a distinct advantage in reducing motion sickness.
Marc Vrecko, CEO of Valeo’s Smart Systems division, said the transition of Valeo Racer from concept to production demonstrates the company’s efficiency in turning R&D into customer value. He emphasized that through engineering collaboration with Renault Korea, Valeo is redefining in-car interaction through perception technology, software integration, and experience design.

Nicolas Paris, CEO of Renault Korea, noted that the Filante embodies the brand’s strategy of fusing emotional design, digital experiences, and cutting-edge technology. He added that the rollout of the XR function demonstrates the partnership’s ability to rapidly deliver innovative concepts in a mass-production environment.
The production debut also highlights how software-defined vehicle (SDV) architectures enable feature expansion. Rather than adding extra hardware, Valeo built the system using the car’s existing perception suite and computing resources. This approach delivers a scalable, value-added solution while maintaining safety and comfort standards.
Developed and manufactured locally in South Korea, the Renault Filante is a key model for the Renault Group’s localization strategy in high-value markets. With its focus on advanced connectivity, a digital cockpit layout, and user-centric design, the vehicle provides an entry point for XR technology to enter the factory-installed market.
Valeo has increasingly pushed for vehicles to evolve into updatable digital platforms. This production milestone further strengthens its engineering capabilities at the intersection of sensor fusion, real-time data processing, and cockpit interaction technology.
