Toyota sees good market in China

From SinoCast| September 10 , 2008 09:56 BJT

Toyota Motor Corp. has just adjusted downward its global sales goal for 2008 and 2009 but increased its Chinese goal for the two years.
The largest Japanese carmaker reduced its 2008 global sales goal to 9.5 million cars from 9.85 million due to subprime crises and high oil prices, and scaled down 2009 goal to 9.7 million from 10.4 million because of the shrinking US market.

By contrast, it planned to sell more cars in emerging markets like China, which was also affected by slower economy growth, though.

China is one of Toyota's growing markets and will be an important force to help the company get over difficult times worldwide. The carmaker aimed to sell 700,000 cars in the market this year and 900,000 cars next year.

With the world economy to continue depressing next year, Japanese carmakers including Toyota, for the consideration of their global strategies, will probably speed up grabbing the Chinese market.
