Shanghai, September 11 (Gasgoo.com) China's leading heavy-duty truck maker Sinotruk expects to achieve at least 45 billion yuan ($6.6 billion) in its sales revenue this year, reaching its new five-year plan’s target two years ahead of schedule, said xinhuanet.com today.

Following its sales of more than 100,000 heavy trucks in 2007, Sinotruk sold 76,000 heavy trucks from January to July this year and is on course to reach its 2008 sales target. The truck manufacturer said it expects to sell 125,000 heavy trucks in 2008, with the sales revenue to reach 45 billion yuan, or 50 billion yuan possibly.

Sinotruk was the world's fifth largest heavy truck maker in terms of sales in 2007. It achieved sales revenue of 37.1 billion yuan last year, paying 2.8 billion yuan in taxes. The company aims to gain one third of the Chinese heavy-truck market and to export one third of its products by 2010.

In each of the recent peak months, the average monthly sales of Sinotruk vehicles hit about 15,000 units, which suggests it will be easy for the heavy-truck maker to achieve its sales goal this year if the market demand remains stable or growing.
