Global brands top 77% of China sedan sales in Aug

Shanghai, September 11 (Gasgoo.com) In August 2008, the sales of global brand sedans hit 264,800 units in China, accounting for 77.16% of the total sedan sales in the Chinese market that month, according to the latest data from Chinese Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).

Of the August sales of global brand sedans, 116,000 sedans are of Japanese brands, representing 33.66% of the China market's total sedan sales in the month. Sedans of German brands sold 73,800 units (21.41%), U.S. brands sold 42,900 units (12.44%), Korean brands sold 22,100 units (6.42%) and French brands 10,000 units (2.91%).

The data also showed that China had 79,800 sedans of its local brands sold in August, compared with 82,400 units in July when 278,400 sedans of global brands were sold (with 35.58% of them carrying Japanese brands).
