New BMW 7-series to arrive in China by year end
Shanghai, October 31 (Gasgoo.com) On October 23, Brilliance BMW vice president Daniel Kirchert announced that the latest generation BMW 7-series will be introduced to China by the end of this year instead of at the beginning of 2009, Beijing Times said yesterday. In addition, the Chinese-made BMW 3-series will go on sale in China in early 2009.
Unveiled at the 2008 Paris Auto Show, the new BMW 7-series and new BMW 3-series made their world premiere. According to Daniel Kirchert, BMW will introduce the latest 7-series in China at the same time with the world premier. It is reported that BMW will still provide extended edition of 7-series to meet Chinese consumers’ demand.
The latest generation BMW 7-series, a luxury sedan, highlights the outstanding driving performance and seating comfort and also combines the sports feature, modern flavor and natural style together. The flagship of the BMW model range will be offered with a turbocharged engine and an 8-speed AT/MT. The 7-series will include several technical innovations for energy saving and emission reduction.
Regarding to 7-series coming ahead of schedule, Industry insiders said the BMW possibly expects to continue its sales boom and create freshness with its updated models as it kept a fast and stable growth in China this year, with a 30.4% increase year on year.
Also disclosed by Daniel Kirchert, the Brilliance BMW new 3-series will go on sale in China at the beginning of 2009. Reportedly, Brilliance BMW’s plant in Shenyang is in the process of 3-series trial production.
