Dongfeng Nissan to sell 380,000 vehicles in '09
Shanghai, January 20 (Gasgoo.com) Dongfeng Nissan, a joint venture between Chinese Dongfeng Motor Corp and Japan-based Nissan Motor Co., aims to sell 380,000 vehicles in 2009, up 5% from 2008, Yang Song, sales director of Dongfeng Nissan said to Shenzhen Special Zone Daily.
Dongfeng Nissan sold 350,000 vehicles in 2008, up 29.63% from 2007, exceeding its sales target of the year and ranking sixth in the top 10 Chinese automakers in 2008 passenger vehicles sales. The carmaker is the only one that fulfilled its 2008 sales target among the top 10 amid the global financial crisis.
A wide range of products which cover all segments contributed a lot to Dongfeng Nissan’s sales success, Yang said. Besides, due to the slowdown of the American market and Dongfeng Nissan’s standout, Nissan Motor paid more attention to the Chinese market, where Dongfeng Nissan had the chance to introduce its vehicle technologies.
Dongfeng Nissan will enhance its brand recognition among Chinese consumers in 2009. The carmaker will spare no efforts to promote its brands while it has no plan to launch any new model in China this year, according to Yang.
