BBDC to make all-new Benz E-class car by 2010
Shanghai, February 10 (Gasgoo.com) The lengthened version of Mercedes-Benz E-class will be produced in Beijing by 2010, Beijing Morning Post reported, citing sources.
Beijing Benz-DaimlerChrysler Automotive Co. (BBDC) has shifted its focus to C-class car production and selling before the E-class is put into production. "The production of old E-class cars is likely to be ceased and BBDC will focus on producing C-class cars," a dealer of BBDC in Beijing disclosed.
"The all-new E-class Mercedes-Benz, launched at the beginning of this year, is likely to be imported to China for temporary sales," the dealer said. BBDC will produce the lengthened version of Mercedes-Benz E-class (code-named V212 inside) by 2010, said sources from BBDC.
The Mercedes-Benz production line has been busily occupied since the China-made Mercedes-Benz C-class car went on sale, BBDC sources said to reporters. The C-class cars are selling well and only has a small inventory, a dealer said.
The Mercedes-Benz E-class will rival Audi A6L, the lengthened version of BMW 5-Series and Volvos 80L, according to the dealer.
