Shanghai VW to up '09 sales 1% to 495,000 units
Shanghai, February 20 (Gasgoo.com) Shanghai Volkswagen, Volkswagen AG's joint venture with Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp (SAIC), has unveiled a more cautious target of sales growth for 2009 amid the global market crisis.
The joint venture set its sales target for 2009 at 495,000 units, representing only a 1% increase from the company's 2008 sales of 490,087 units.
Specifically, Passat will account for 81,300 units of the whole target, Lavida for 100,000 units; Sales of Polo and Touran are projected to reach 70,600 and 14,900 units while sales for Santana and Skoda brand cars are set at 134,200 units and 173,000 units, respectively.
Shanghai VW achieved 83.06% of its sales target set for 2008.
