Ford to launch new Fiesta in Hainan tonight
Shanghai, March 6 (Gasgoo.com) Ford Motor Co will hold a launching ceremony for its new four-door Fiesta sedan and hatchback on China's southern resort island of Hainan on Friday evening, the company said in a statement.
China is the world's first market to introduce the four-door Fiesta sedan, which indicates the significance of the China market in Ford's global strategy, the company said.
Production of the new Fiesta sedan and hatchback began Jan. 15 at Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co.'s manufacturing facility in Nanjing.
"The introduction of new Ford Fiesta proves again Ford Motor Company's long-term commitment to China," said Robert Graziano, president and CEO, Ford Motor China.
The company said pre-sale demand for the car in China has surpassed expectations, with several thousand Chinese consumers placing orders ahead of the official launch, but it did not specify detailed figures.
The new Fiesta sedan models will be powered by 1.5L engines, and the hatchback will be equipped with 1.3L or 1.5L engines. The car is forecast to carry a dealer's price between 80,000 ($11,695) and 110,000 yuan in China.
