Mercedes-Benz sold 2,800 vehicles across China in February, a year-on-year increase of 21 percent. The growth is higher than the overall sedan segment average of 17.6 percent.

Mercedes-Benz's five SUV models have become an important contributor to the automaker's achievements on the Chinese mainland, with 1,600 units sold, an outstanding year-on-year increase of 61 percent in the first two months of the year. As Mercedes-Benz's flagship model, the S-Class continued to reinforce its position in the top luxury segment.

"We are very happy to see that Mercedes-Benz sustained its growth in February," said Klaus Maier, president and CEO of Mercedes-Benz (China) Ltd.

Last month, auto sales in China surged 25 percent year on year, the first gain in four months. Passenger-car sales, including sport-utility and multipurpose vehicles, rose 24 percent last month to 607,300, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.
