BMW may bring three new models to China soon

Shanghai, May 7 (Gasgoo.com) BMW China recently said that in 2009 BMW will launch three new models globally -- the BMW X1, BMW 5-series Gran Turismo and new-generation BMW Z4. The new BMW Z4 is confirmed to be put on sale in China later this year, with the other two models to follow up soon, said sina.com today.

The BMW X1 and BMW 5-series Gran Turismo are BMW's all-new models to be released this year as the heavyweight models of the premium car maker. The small BMW X1 was unveiled as a concept car at the 2008 Paris Motor Show and will debut at the 2009 Frankfurt Auto Show as a production model.

The BMW 5-series Gran Turismo is an all-new model based on the BMW 5-series platform. The 5-series GT has retained most of the traditional styling of BMW, except that the back row of this new model has only two independent seats.

The BMW Z4 is a stylish Roadster built in Germany and will be launched globally this month. It has two different engine choices. The 35i has 300 horsepower and the 30i has 255 horsepower. The model will be sold for an equivalent of about $58,500 in Germany.

BMW China has confirmed that it will introduce the new BMW Z4 to the Chinese market in the second half of this year, and the other the BMW X1 and BMW 5-series Gran Turismo are likely to be imported soon after.
