Shanghai, June 29 (Gasgoo.com) A leaky gasoline pump caused a bus fire in northeast China's Liaoning province on June 27 morning, xinhuanet.com reported. All 30 passengers were safely evacuated, police said. Bus fire has occurred repeatedly this month as a big threat to China's public transport safety.

The No. 205 bus, headed toward the rail station in the provincial capital of Liaoning, was evacuated by the driver. He used a fire extinguisher to try to put out the blaze, which was finally extinguished by firefighters.

A fatal bus blaze in the southwest Sichuan province on June 5 killed 27 people and injured 74 others. An investigation found that someone had brought gasoline aboard the vehicle.

Several other bus blazes had been reported in less than two weeks after the Chengdu accident: in Shenzhen of southern Guangdong province on June 13, in Wuhai of north Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region on June 15 and in Zhoushan of coastal Zhejiang province on June 16.

Cities across China have inspected bus facilities this month after the fatal bus blaze in Chengdu city, provincial capital of Sichuan. Beijing began to examine all its 230,000 buses soon after the Chengdu bus fire, according to the Beijing Bus Group.

More signs about dangerous items will be installed in buses and at bus stops in Chinese cities. The fixed windows on the buses with air-conditioners are changed to ordinary windows which can be opened, and more safety hammers to break windows are installed.

China's Ministry of Public Security warned on June 19 about potential fire danger in public transport vehicles after several bus blazes across the country this month.
