VW to recall 8,680 Touareg vehicles in China

Shanghai, July 10 (Gasgoo.com) Volkswagen Ag has decided to recall some imported Touareg vehicles in China starting July 20, due to the spoiler holder problem, xinhuanet.com said today, citing the country's quality regulator.

The General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said yesterday in a statement that there are 8,680 Touareg vehicles in China to be recalled. They were made by Volkswagen Ag between November 25, 2006 and January 21, 2009 and imported to the Chinese market by its China division.

The reason for the recall is that the spoiler's holder fixed in the upper rear of the vehicle is not strong enough so that it may break and fall down in extreme conditions, which will cause safety hazards.

The import company of Volkswagen China has announced that it will check and strengthen the related parts of the recalled vehicles free of charge, and will replace the component with a good one if the holder is damaged.
