SAIC Motor sells 1.4 mln vehicles in Jan-July

Shanghai, August 10 (Gasgoo.com) SAIC Motor, China's largest automaker, sold 1,439,933 vehicles from January to July this year, ranking first among Chinese automakers with a market share of 20.04%, official data showed on Friday.

In July SAIC sold a total of 222653 vehicles, representing a market share of 20.51%, data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers showed.

The automaker has completed 67 percent of its 2009 sales target during the first half of this year and is on curse to sell 2 million vehicles for the full year, up sharply from its previous target 1.8 million units.

China's passenger-vehicles sales rose 70.5% to 832,596 units in July, the biggest gain since January 2006, the association said over the weekend. Overall vehicle sales, including trucks and buses, rose 64 percent from a year earlier to 1.09 million.

Over the January-July period, sales of domestically-made autos stood at more than 7.18 million units, up 23.38 percent year on year, according to CAAM.
