Shanghai, August 10 (Gasgoo.com) SAIC-GM-Wuling Automobile, General Motors' commercial vehicle venture in South China which makes minivans, pickup trucks and compact cars, said it plans to make more expensive passenger cars in the future, China Business News reports on Monday.

Company spokeswoman Cai Yanan told the newspaper that the JV has been focusing on A00-Class vehicles but in future it will move to the field of higher-end cars.

SAIC GM Wuling is following its closest rival Chongqing Chang'an Automobile Co's way to expand in passenger car market. SAIC-GM-Wuling currently has only one sedan product, the Chevrolet Spark, across its product lineup.

Chang'an Auto was once China's biggest minivan maker but was later caught up by Wuling partly because it turned its concentration into sedan business. Now Changan is China's fourth largest vehicle maker with 789,340 vehicles sold in the first seven months of this year.
