Shanghai, August 24 (Gasgoo.com) Toyota Motor will start tomorrow to recall 688,314 Camry and other sedans made at its two joint ventures in China to fix the vehicles' faulty electronic window control systems, media reported, citing the country's quality watchdog.

Electronic controls on the driver's side window may short-circuit because an excessive amount of lubricant was applied during the manufacturing process, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine said in a statement on its Web site.

The excess lubricant may cause overheating and melting. In rare instances, the flaw may cause the interior door panel to melt. The faulty parts originated from one supplier, the quality supervisor said.

The recall includes 384,736 Camry models made by Guangzhou Toyota in south China between May 15, 2006 and Dec. 31, 2008, China's quality watchdog said on its website. A total of 22,767 Yaris compact cars made by the same venture between May 15 and Dec. 31, 2009 will also be recalled.

The list also includes 35,523 Vios cars made at FAW Toyota between Feb. 18 and Dec. 25, 2008 and 245,288 Corolla models made at the venture from May 17, 2007 to Dec. 25, 2008, the statement said.

A spokesman for Toyota's China operations said he had received no reports of casualties or accidents linked with the defect.
