200 models to shine at Shanghai imported auto show

Shanghai, August 28 (Gasgoo.com) About 200 models will be displayed at the upcoming 4th Shanghai Imported Auto Exhibition, state media reported today, citing the event's organizer Shanghai World Expo (Group) Co.

The imported auto show will be held in Shanghai Automobile Exhibition Center of Anting International Auto City, Jiading District, from September 10 to 14, 2009.

The economic recovery and booming auto sales in the first half of this year have heated up Chinese buyers' interest in imported cars. Although it's still more than a week away, tickets for the imported auto show in Shanghai are selling like hot cakes.

As the only imported auto show in eastern China, this year's Shanghai Imported Auto Exhibition has issued over 100,000 tickets, double last year's figure.

Exhibitors are also rushing in, as the growing market of imported luxury cars has boosted their confidence. The organizer said the number of auto models on display this year will increase more than 20% from a year earlier to about 200 models.

China is surpassing the United States as the world's largest auto market and has become Asia's largest auto importer. Experts predict that China's auto imports will increase by 10% this year to more than 450,000 cars.
