Ford brand car sales in China up 30% in Jan-Aug

Changan Ford Mazda, a joint venture between Chongqing Changan Automobile Corp., Ford Motor and Mazda Motor, sold 144,601 Ford brand cars during the first eight months, up 30 percent from the previous year's period.

Sales of Ford cars surged 111 percent from a year earlier to 21,127 units in August.

Among major sub-brands, Focus sales jumped 58 percent to 12,269 units in August. Sales of Mondeo Zhisheng and S-MAX each separately soared 89 percent and 88 percent year on year. New Fiesta sales reached 4,539 units.

ChangAn Ford Mazda has expanded investment in product and service development this year and managed to maintain fast sales growth despite the global financial crisis.
