Fuji Heavy lifts car sales target in China by 43 pct

Shanghai, September 29 (Gasgoo.com) Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd has lifted its sales target for China to 33,000 to 34,000 vehicles this year, 43 percent higher than its previous target of 23,000 cars, executive of Subaru China said.

The marketing and planning chief of Subaru China said at a test drive event on new Legacy that the company has lifted the sales target backed by strong sales performance experiencing this year.

The executive also confirms report that FHI is currently considering plans to build a vehicle plant in China in response to the growing demand for SUVs in the Chinese market.

He added that FHI is going to increase the number of Subaru dealers from the current 90 to 115 by the end of this year. Last year FHI sold 19,010 vehicles in China.

Currently, FHI has 15,000 employees worldwide, operates nine manufacturing plants and sells products in 100 countries. One major division produces Subaru-brand cars, and another produces airplanes, aerospace equipment and related parts.
