German carmaker Daimler AG expects double digit growth in sales in North Asia next year, Ulrich Walker, Chairman and CEO of Daimler Northeast Asia said on Monday.

Walker, who is in charge of Daimler's operations in China, Hong Kong, Taiwan and South Korea, said China's growth was expected to be 15 percent in 2010.

Daimler's Mercedes-Benz unit sold 8,500 cars in China in November, up 224 percent from a year earlier. The company also said full-year sales in 2009 in China were expected to exceed the company's previous target of 65,000.

The booming Chinese auto market remains one of the few bright spots for German luxury carmakers.
