Shanghai, December 15 (Gasgoo.com) Chinese carmaker BYD Auto has rolled out its first locally produced car in Egypt and released it to the Egyptian market, Xinhua News reported. The roll-out and launch ceremony was held in Cairo on December 13.

The first BYD car that rolled off its production line in Egypt was the F3 model, which is one of the best-selling sedans in the Chinese market. BYD F3 sold 32,000 units domestically last month, leading China's November sedan sales.

After cooperating with a local automaker for four years, BYD has started selling the popular BYD F3 made in Egypt, with a retail price equivalent to US$11,000.

The Chinese electric car company has set up a CKD (complete knock-down) assembly plant in the African country. The facility will help to boost BYD's presence in the Egyptian and neighboring markets.

As part of its global strategy, BYD plans to set up 40 overseas plants by 2025.

Two of BYD Auto's latest vehicles, F3 and F6 2010 models, were also launched in Kuwait over the weekend, Arab Times reported.
