Small-vehicle maker Kandi pushes EV tech in China
Shanghai, January 5 (Gasgoo.com) Kandi Technologies Corp., a China-based producer of small vehicles, including go-karts, all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) and golf carts, said yesterday that it has allied itself with major energy, IT and battery companies as it pushes electric-vehicle technology in the country, Dow Jones reported.
Kandi agreed to an alliance with a joint venture of China National Offshore Oil Corp. and China Potevio Co. as well as Tianneng Power International Ltd., "aimed at speeding up the commercialization and achieving mass adoption" of pure electric vehicles in China.
The group, which calls itself the Alliance for Chinese Electric Vehicle Development and Commercialization, said it has government backing. The group's business model includes building a nationwide network of EV "battery stations" as its key revenue stream.
The network of EV battery stations will cover each city for one-stop battery charging, replacement, recycling and rental services. Kandi also plans on powering the battery stations with a centralized industrial "battery charging farm" in each city.
The business model also aims at selling affordable pure electrical cars without batteries, equipped with Kandi's patented technology. Kandi , a maker of go-karts, ATVs and golf carts, also develops energy-saving mini-cars.
