Ford '09 China sales up 44% to 440,619 vehicles
Ford Motor Co sold 44 percent more vehicles in China last year compared with 2008, the company said on Thursday.
Ford Motors, which broke ground for its $490 million third China plant in September, sold 440,619 vehicles in the country last year, the company said in a statement.
That compared with 306,306 units sold in 2008.
Ford, which competes with General Motors and others, makes cars in China in a tie-up with Chongqing Changan Auto Co and Mazda Motor.
Auto sales in China, the world's largest market, surged last year, boosted by government incentives aimed at bolstering domestic demand.
