Ford's Q1 China sales up 84% to 153,362 vehicles
Shanghai, April 2 (Gasgoo.com) Ford Motor has announced that its sales in China surged 84% in the first three months of the year to 153,362 vehicles, its best quarterly result in the Chinese market, media reported today.
The figure includes sales of Ford's local joint ventures with Chinese partners and its wholly-owned entities. China sales of Ford brand passenger cars and commercial vehicles rose 75% to 88,084 vehicles in the first quarter, the company said.
Sales of Changan Ford Mazda Automobile, Ford's passenger car venture in China, were up 89% from a year earlier to 108,131units. Its commercial vehicle JV, Jiangling Motors, sold 41,300 units, including a 64% rise in sales of Ford Transit to 11,438 units.
In March, Ford Focus sales climbed 47% year on year to 14,793 units. Sales of Ford Fiesta increased to 7,448 units, bringing total China sales to an all-time high of 66,810 units since its launch last year. Also Ford Mondeo sales rose 48 % and Ford S-MAX sales increased 56%.
At the upcoming 2010 Beijing auto show later this month, Ford will showcase an impressive array of new products including the new Ford Edge featuring MyFord Touch and next-generation Focus for the China market.
