Nissan's Infiniti G35 car recall doesn't include China
Shanghai, May 7 (Gasgoo.com) Japanese carmaker Nissan Motor will likely increase the recall of its Infiniti G35 sedans and coupes to 146,000 units, but the recall does not include the Chinese and European markets, Beijing News reported yesterday.
Earlier this week Nissan announced a recall of 134,215 Infiniti G35 sedans from the 2005-2006 model and G35 coupes from the 2005-2007 model to fix the defect of airbags, which might fail to deploy during a crash due to faulty seatbelt and occupancy sensors.
About 65% of the vehicles to recall are sedans and about 35% are coupes, a Nissan spokesman said. The affected models were made at a Nissan plant in Japan. Both the sedan and coupe are of the previous generation of G35s.
The recall might increase to 146,000 vehicles, said an executive of Nissan China. But the company has not sold G35 coupes and sedans in the Chinese market until 2007 and the affected models have not been officially sold in China.
The Nissan China executive added that the recall would not cover Europe, either. Most of the affected vehicles are in the United States, but they are also recalled in South Korea, Canada, the Middle East and some other regions.
