Shanghai, May 19 (Gasgoo.com) Great Wall Motor, formerly known as China's major pickup and SUV maker, yesterday put its new Tengyi C30 sedan to the domestic market, and announced the economic car's pricing that ranges from 58,900 yuan ($8,630) to 71,900 yuan for different versions, Xinhua News reported.

This compact family sedan, similar in size to Toyota's Yaris sedan, measures 4,452 x 1,705 x 1,480mm with a 2,610mm wheelbase. Powered by an aluminum VVT L4 engine GW4G15, the Tengyi C30 can reach a maximum of 77kW at 6,000rpm and 138Nm at 4,200rpm. The car meets the Euro IV emissions standards.

The Tengyi C30 was recently displayed at the recent 2010 Beijing auto show. Great Wall Motor said this car was designed as the company's first global car, which will look at both the export markets as well as the domestic Chinese market, intended to reach a 1:1 domestic to export ratio.

The C30's design has some hints of the previous-generation Vios, like other Great Wall's designs which are quite "Toyota-inspired." The car is much bigger than a Vios though, and can be seen as a smallish C-segment car instead of a large B segment car.

Great Wall Motor has made a few variants of its Tengyi C30 sedan available in China with competitive pricing: the standard model (58,900 yuan), the comfort model (62,900 yuan), the "luxury" model (65,900 yuan) and the "elite" model (71,900 yuan).
