Changan Auto H1 sales up 47.68% to 974,499 vehicles

Shanghai, July 7 (Gasgoo.com) Chongqing Changan Automobile Co. Ltd. sold 974,499 vehicles in the first half of the year, up 47.68% from a year earlier, the company announced yesterday. Its production in the period came to 956,440 vehicles, up 49.84%.

In June alone, Changan Auto's vehicle sales grew 17.46% year on year to 148,001 units, while its output increased 5.09% to 136,278 units, the company said in a statement.

Changan Ford Mazda Automobile Co., a three-way joint venture between Ford Motor, Changan Auto and Mazda Motor, sold 205,563 vehicles in the first half, up 46% from a year earlier. Another joint venture Changan Suzuki saw its first-half sales break a record of 100,000 vehicles.

Changan Auto is expected to finalize its deal with French automaker PSA to form a 50-50 joint venture based in Shenzhen for producing small cars and commercial vehicles under the Peugeot and Citroen brands.

On July 1, Changan Auto signed a strategic cooperation agreement with China Mobile to jointly develop 3G cars featuring vehicle remote diagnosis, positioning, navigation and the Internet.
