BMW China H1 sales exceed 75,000 cars
Shanghai July 13 (Gasgoo.com) BMW China revealed to the media that in the first half of 2010, BMW Group delivered 75,615 BMW and Mini vehicles to users in mainland China. This makes China overtake Britain to be the world's third largest market for BMW.
Data show that the BMW brand sold 71,146 units, up 98% year on year. Mini brand set a sales record by selling 4,469 units, surpassing last year's sales in just half a year's time. In the same period in 2009, BMW and Mini brands sold 37,627 vehicles in the mainland.
In the super luxury car segment market, the 7 series maintained and expanded its absolute advantage. From January to June, sales of the 7 series grew 127% Y/Y to 10,835 units. X5 and X6 sold 11,000 units together. In the compact hatchback market, 4201 users chose the 1 series.
Sales of the old 5 series with long wheelbase were 17,108 units, a rise of 42% from a year earlier. Meanwhile, the new long wheelbase version of the 5 series is accepting orders from the customers. In the first 6 months, both the locally produced and imported 3 series sold 18,523 units, soaring 130%.
In the Greater China market, including Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, BMW Group delivered 81,679 BMW and Mini cars to users, doubling its sales Y/Y, in the first six months.
