Shanghai, July 30 (Gasgoo.com) China's major automaker Changan Auto currently opened a car supermarket in the country's capital city Beijing. In view of the advantages of lower investment and operating cost, Changan plans to open 100 supermarkets this year in the mainland's second- and third-tier cities to expand its business, media reported Friday.

The Chongqing-based automaker will sell the low-, mid- and high-end models made by Changan Automobile, Changan-Ford, Changan-Mazda, Changan-Suziki, etc. in the Beijing supermarket. After its acquisition of Hafei Auto, Changhe Auto from Aviation Industries of China (AVIC) and other domestic carmakers in 2009, Changan has brought its family Hafei, Changhe, Jiangling Lufeng and other brands.

Apart from that, Changan also opened a car supermarket in Dingzhou city, North China's Hebei province at the end of last year. This year, the company plans to build a three-dimensional marketing system of multi-brand in the country, through opening a total of 100 car supermarkets in the second- and third-tier cities or the urban fringes.

As more and more people come to realise the potential savings a car supermarket can offer, car supermarkets should become a trend in the long run. Up to present, Changan has already opened nine supermarkets in the country, with the other 45 under construction, the company's vice chairman Song Jia said.
