Shanghai August 18 (Gasgoo.com) BMW China will recall 5,308 of imported BMW 5 series sedans in China starting Friday due to problems with the fuel tank that can cause stalling, China's quality inspection authorities said on Tuesday.

The recall involves BMW 5 series 535i & 550i cars made from January 12 to June 30 this year.

The fuel tank problem could stall the engine without warning and the engine might not restart following this flameout, said the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine (AQSIQ) in a statement on its website.

There have been no reports of any accidents or injuries in relation to the issue with 2010 BMW 5 series GT, the (AQSIQ) said.

BMW China said it would offer free replacements of oil level sensors for car owners affected to avoid possible risks, and not deliver the cars involved until the defects are fixed.

The company will inform owners of the recall while owners can call BMW China on a hotline at 400-800-6666 or visit AQSIQ's website for more information.
