Jiangling Motors to roll out self-made Yusheng SUV in Oct

Shanghai August 31 (Gasgoo.com) China's Jiangling Motors Co., Ltd. (JMC) (000550), a commercial van partner of Ford Motor, will roll out its first self-developed Yusheng SUV in mid-October and launch it to the domestic market at the end of this year, an inside source revealed last week, Beijing News reported Tuesday.

The mid-size SUV will be available in both diesel and petrol engine with a body length of close to 4.8 meters. Using a non-load-style body, the Yusheng looks more sporty, and is well positioned for urban driving with some design features that JMC borrowed from its U.S. partner.

The most appealing aspect of Yusheng is its higher power configuration, JMC explained. Blessed with Ford Puma Engine Technology Licensing Contract that the two automakers sighed previously, the Yusheng is likely to carry Ford's 2.4L JX4D24 diesel engine, and the 2.4 L 4G69 gasoline engine from Mitsubishi currently used on the Landwind X8.

The diesel 2.4L can put out 103kW 285-375Nm while the gasoline 2.4 L is rated at 118kW and 210Nm /4500rpm. The Yusheng SUV is expected to be sold between 100,000 -150,000 yuan ($14,700-$22,000), according to sources.
