Chinese auto brands see booming sales in August

The production and sales of Chinese-made cars in August has improved from July, and both have exceeded 11 million units from January to August 2010, an increase of nearly 40 percent compared with the previous year, and the accumulated production and sales growth rate continued to slowly decline, according to statistical data released by the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers.

Statistics show that in August 2010, China produced a total of nearly 1.3 million cars, a decline of more than 0.6 percent compared with July, but an increase of nearly 12 percent compared with the previous year, and sold (by bulk) a total of more than 1.3 million cars, an increase of more than 6 percent compared with July and an increase of more than 16 percent compared with the previous year.

From January to August 2010, the production and sales of all Chinese-made cars stood at nearly 11.5 million and nearly 11.6 million, respectively, both experiencing an increase of more than 39 percent compared with the previous year.

Both the production and sales of Chinese-made passenger cars stood at nearly 8.7 million, an increase of more than 41 percent and nearly 40 percent, respectively, compared with the previous year. The production and sales of Chinese-made commercial cars stood at more than 2.8 million and nearly 2.9 million, respectively, an increase of nearly 34 percent and nearly 38 percent compared with the previous year.
