Shanghai November 9 (Gasgoo.com) Chery Auto said yesterday it sold 64,088 vehicles in October, up 46% from a year earlier. The figures brought total sales in the first ten months to 539,376 units, indicating that 77% of its full-year sales target for 2010 has been accomplished, Xinhua News Agency reported Tuesday.

The January-October figures have also exceeded the company's annual sales of 500,000 units in 2009.

According to Chery Spokesperson Jin Yibo, the Chery Qiyun brand had the best performance in the domestic market last month, when it reported record sales of 18,434 units as the company has optimized its product line-up and adopted an independent operation model.

In order to achieve its 700,000 sales target for this year, Chery will have to sell an average 80,000 units in November and December respectively. That, however, would not be a problem for Chery since auto sales usually enters its peak season at the end of the year and Chery's exports have been recovering too, Jin said confidently.

The Anhui-based automaker will continue to accelerate its overseas expansion with specific sales plans to be determined in 2011, launch new models and constantly improve its multi-brand strategy.
