Mazda announces Chinese sales of over 15000 vehicles last month
Gasgoo.com (Shanghai May 7) - In a recently issued performance report, Mazda Motor's Chinese branch announced April sales of 17,890 vehicles, auto.sina.com.cn reported earlier this week. The new figure is 23 percent higher than Mazda's April 2010 sales result. Additionally, Mazda announced sales of 67,685 vehicles since the start of the year, an increase of 1 percent from January to April of last year.
Between its two joint ventures, FAW Mazda came out on top with sales of 11,420 vehicles (39 percent higher than its result April of last year), with Changan Mazda being responsible for the remaining 6,470 sales (2 percent higher than last year.)
"Although the market is not ideal, sales of our main models the Mazda3 [pictured above] and Mazda6 have had a positive turn around," stated Yamada Noriaki, CEO and chairman of Mazda China. "[We experienced] large growth this quarter from last year," he added.
Mazda is planning to increase the number of FAW Mazda and Changan Mazda dealerships to 370 by the end of this year, with already 316 dealers in operation. The manufacturer also plans to introduce its new Mazda3 hatchback (pictured below) and Mazda CX-5 compact SUV, during the end of this year and next year respectively.
