Chery G6 makes market debut

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai August 2) - Chery's new flagship car, the Riich G6, made its official market debut yesterday, auto.sohu.com reported. Chery held the opening ceremony at Beijing's Tiananmen Square' Flag Guard camp, where it presented a car to the Square's Flag Guard.

The G6 (pictured) is built on the same platform as the manufacturer's Eastar Cross and G5 models. The sedan will come equipped with a 2.0 L turbocharged engine equipped with a five-speed automatic transmission making a top speed of 195 km/h.

The G6 comes with Xenon headlights, daytime running lights and LED rearlights. The design of the car gives a mature feeling than its rival Emgrand EC8 from Geely. As for the interior, the G6 also comes equipped with a 5.1 surround sound stereo system, an optional video screen and GPS navigation system.

The G6 comes in three versions, with prices ranging from 189,800 yuan to 259,800 yuan ($29,585-$40,496). The car looks poised to compete with other vehicles preferable for government and business use, including the FAW-VW Magotan, Honda Accord, Toyota Camry and Nissan Teana.
